About us:

Ki Fitness and Self Defence is a fitness system designed to assist individuals achieve their fitness goals; utilizing the martial arts as a key driver to obtain a sense of wellness. Ki Fitness and Self Defence also utilizes meditation, cardio-vascular workouts to music and individualized fitness testing programs to assist members to achieve their fitness goals.

Flexibility:

 

Flexibility and stretching comprises what can essentially be recognized as the cornerstone of injury prevention, muscle recovery, and increased mobility for exercise enthusiasts (as well as couch potatoes). Unfortunately, busy schedules and lack of education concerning the importance of this key wellness component lead to an increased injury rate in active individuals and paralyzing decreases in range of motion in the elderly. Many individuals do not realize the importance of properly executed flexibility/stretching programs, and many others do not know the correct and most effective way to perform these exercises.
At Ki Fitness and Self Defence we aim to assist individuals reach a sense of wellbeing through our stretching and flexibility programme.

Meditation:

 

Meditation can be broadly defined as any activity that keeps the attention pleasantly anchored in the present moment. When the mind is calm and focused in the present, it is neither reacting to memories from the past nor being preoccupied with plans for the future. The intention is not to remove stimulation but rather to direct your concentration to one healing element – one sound, one word, one image, or one’s breath. When the mind is filled with the feeling of calm and peace, it cannot take off on its own worry, stress out, or get depressed.


Fitness:

Being physically fit means, “having the energy and strength to perform daily activities vigorously and alertly, with energy left over to enjoy leisure activities or meet emergency demands.” Your Heart, Lungs, and Muscles should be strong. Your weight and body fat should be within desirable range. For Women, fat should not exceed 25% of their weight. For men, fat should not exceed 18% of their body weight.
To determine a level of physical fitness, there are three measurable parts: Endurance, Strength and Flexibility. Endurance is defined as the ability to keep moving for long periods of time [Cardio respiratory and Muscular}.
